Séamus O'Sé Scholarship Fund
We believe that every dancer should have the opportunity to perform at their highest level. Because of this, we have created a scholarship for O'Shea dancers to help pay for dance expenses. This fund is named in honor of Séamus O'Sé.
Whether you need help buying your first pair of hard shoes or travel assistance to world competitions, the scholarship is here for you. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and information is kept confidential. If you have questions about the scholarship, please email president@idpamn.org.
Séamus O'Sé
Séamus O'Sé, a beloved figure whose impact on the world of Irish dance will resonate for generations, and beloved father of Cormac O'Se, passed away in March 2025. In his memory, the Irish Dance Parent Association has established a scholarship fund to financially assist dancers in continuing their craft.
Alongside his late wife Áine, Séamus co-founded Scoil Rince Uí Shé, the legendary Dublin dance school that trained hundreds of dancers and shaped champions over 47 remarkable years. While Séamus shared Áine's passion for the artistry and tradition of Irish Dance, Séamus' greatest joy came from creating a family amongst all of the young dancers in his charge.
Séamus became a beloved presence at the Celtic Junction Arts Center, the Irish Fair of Minnesota, and Irish dance competitions, always warmly engaging with everyone he met. Séamus' legacy lives on in the hundreds of dancers he mentored and trained, and in the continued success of his son Cormac’s school, O'Shea Irish Dance.
